With more than 100 km of trails around the city, come forest bathe and stroll through nature. As you rack up the kilometres, we have some milestone prizes to keep you motivated.Be one of the first 50 people to check in at 5 trails and earn a $10 gift card to a local cafe. Or be one of the first 13 to complete 15 trails, and a shrub* will be planted in your honour by the David Douglas Garden Society in Khasdzoon Yusk’ut Botanical Garden*Exact species chosen based on garden needs. (If you’re having trouble checking in, send the app support team a photo from the location and the visit date. Note: visits before pass activation don’t count.)</li><li>Each check-in earns points, redeem them for prizes once you collect enough!</li></ol>The Trail Passport is available until October 31, 2026, and prizes are available while quantities last.

<h2>Participate in the BC Annual Bat Count</h2>The BC Annual Bat Count is a citizen science program to annually monitor bat populations in roost sites. Abandoned houses, barns, church steeples – and even currently-occupied structures – can provide a summer home to female bats and their young. Monitoring these “maternity colonies” can give biologists a good idea of how bat populations in an area are doing from year to year. With the occurrence of White-nose Syndrome in North America, monitoring these colonies is more important than ever.

<h2 style="text-align: center">Join ecologist Chris Drake of Coast Alive Stewardship Services this summer at Blackburn Lake Nature Reserve!</h2>You will learn about:<ul><li>How this nature reserve was once a golf course and has since been stewarded into a productive and vibrant wetland and forest.</li><li>Restoring a variety of ecosystem types including wetlands and Garry oak meadows</li><li>Successfully controlling invasive species</li><li>Propagating and growing native plants</li><li>Protecting native plants from deer</li><li>Reducing wildfire risk, including information on fire-resistant &amp; drought-tolerant plants</li><li>Enhancing wildlife habitat – birds, bats, frogs, beavers and beyond!</li></ul>Wildlife habitat supplies will be available for purchase by Coast Alive Stewardship Service<ul><li>Nesting boxes for local birds</li><li>Bird baths and mini-ponds</li><li>Wire cages to protect trees and shrubs from deer browse.</li></ul>The walk is approximately 2 kilometers. Please bring your own water and sun protection. After the walk enjoy a beautiful view of the lake and soak up the sun in our picnic area. There’s lots of space for kids to safely run and play, but sorry, no dogs allowed.$10 per adult, kids free – all proceeds help fund further restoration projects.
