Join Helly Hansen and the Sun Peaks Snow Safety Team for Avalanche Awareness Day! Visit Beacon Basin at the top of the Sunburst Express chairlift to learn about safe travel in backcountry terrain, common avalanche hazards, strategies to avoid them, and how to access formal backcountry training and additional resources.

Participants can register to take part in avalanche rescue challenges for a chance to win prizes.

This event is part of Avalanche Awareness Days, a nationwide initiative supported by Avalanche Canada, designed to promote safe backcountry travel and highlight the critical information Avalanche Canada provides to recreationists.

While the in-bounds terrain at Sun Peaks Resort is carefully monitored and poses minimal avalanche risk, conditions can change rapidly once venturing into the backcountry, making education and awareness essential.
